Vowing to keep slugging away in the hills of Afghanistan which two decades ago exhasted the military might of the far more formidable Red Army, Obama accepted the Peace Prize from a nest of white liberals too embarrassed to note that Peace Prizes were not occasions for war speeches calling the US to support his actions in Afghanistan. Inside the US an overwhelming percentage of those polled declared the prize undeserved due to a perceived lack of any significant accomplishments in the cause of peace particularly Obama's role in continuing conflicts abroad and formenting new ones. The prize was accepted even though The Constitution of 1787 prohibits the President from accepting honors and emoluments from foreign states and princes. Some Obama-ists hope that the prize would give Obama leverage in the war in Afghanistan and in hia attempt to subjugate Iran.

Angered by President Obama's decision to continue the war in Afhghanistan with renewed vigor, Mr Malik Hassan opened fire at Fort Hood Texas on troops departing for the war zone. Purportedly a major in the US Army Medical Corps, Mr Hassan used the cover of a simulation of a terrorist attack exercise to carry out his deadly deeds. A Killeen City, Texas Police woman rendered Mr Hassan a moderate. Despite open expression of disaffection with Obamist policies toward the Islamic world in the form of "extreme" Islamicist pronouncements, Mr Hassan was largely ignored before the attack which left 13 dead, mostly medical corps personnel and 30 seriously wounded. At last report, Mr Hassan continues as a moderate strapped to a ventilator.

If you hand your enemy a weapon ...

Renewed sabre-waving at Iran's Islamic Republic took the form of CIA engineered disturbances quickly put down by the Revolutionary Guard. Military Commentators noted that the disturbances were scattered and did not involve the type of general upheaval that had accompanied the deposing of the Shah in 1978. As the CIA effort fluttered in Iran, Islamic militants posing on Christmas Day as informers wacked CIA operatives under the nose of US military personnel. CIA expressed concern that it might be difficult to get US civilians to go into the war zone.

In November US official released the casualty tolls in the war for the first time in three years. The official figure stands at 4600. Three years ago when last reported the number was 4000. The reported losses occasionally go down.

In the midst of tragedy there is humor. A rock star Obama may be, an expert on protocol he is not. President Obama was once again caught in one of his gaffes with his deep bow to the Japanese Emperor Akihito, the eldest son and fifth child of Emperor Hirohito who along with General Hideki Tojo engineered Tora Tora Tora, the backstabbing attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, while Japan feigned to negotiate a peace. Many were pleased and relieved the the bow to Emperor Akhito was not quite as deep as the prostration earlier in the year before Saudi potentate King Abdullah a slave owner in a devine right kingdom.
